Stroke Play-second ball when in doubtSITUATION: A player feels he is entitled to relief from an area that should have been marked as ground under repair. SOLUTION: Only in stroke play may a player when in doubt as to his rights or procedure he can play a second ball (THIS IS NOT THE SAME AS A PROVISIONAL BALL). (i) if an official or committee member is not nearby, (ii) the player must announce to his fellow-competitor or marker his decision to play a second ball and state which ball he would like to count as part of his score if the rules permit, (iii) and finally the player must report the facts to the Committee before finalizing his score card unless his score was the same with both balls. If he doesn't report the situation to the Committee when required, he will be disqualified.
